AMECO Finishes 2003 With Award-Winning Safety Record

AMECO, the Fleet Outsourcing(SM) and Site Services(SM) unit of Fluor Corporation (NYSE: FLR), today announced that its global workforce of more than 1,300 worked the entire year (seven million work hours) of 2003 with no lost-time incidents. This on-the-job performance, which included 3.5 million hours without an OSHA recordable, helped Fluor earn major industry recognition.

Domestically, the National Safety Council recognized AMECO's stellar safety record by awarding the company with the 2003 Industry Leader Award for the best safety performance in the industry.

Internationally, the Chilean Safety and Health Organization's 2003 "Competitive Company" program presented AMECO with second place in the best safety performances and practices category.

Following are some of AMECO's safety milestones from 2003:

  • On a Cable & Wireless project in Jamaica, employees worked 500,000 safe hours without an OSHA recordable or lost-time accident.
  • The AMECO team at Tyler Operations in Texas celebrated 19 years and 750,000 safe hours.
  • On the Red Stripe project in Jamaica, employees celebrated one year without a lost time incident or OSHA recordable.
