Fluor’s Annual Golf for Greater Houston Charity Event Raises Record $410,000
Through its annual Golf for Greater Houston charity event, Fluor has been giving back to the community for more than 10 years. With the support from generous sponsors and donors – and countless volunteer hours – the event recently raised $410,000 for nine deserving Houston-area charities in its most successful tournament to date.
“Fluor’s Golf for Greater Houston event reinforces the value our company places on making a sustainable difference in the communities in which we serve,” said Barbara Jones, senior manager, Community & Public Affairs. “For 11 years, this tournament has contributed to various causes in Harris and Fort Bend counties to help those that are less fortunate. Thank you to our employees, sponsors and volunteers who made this year’s event a success.”
Golf for Greater Houston’s beneficiaries for 2018 include: The Ballard House, Candlelighters, Child Advocates of Fort Bend, Fort Bend Family Promise, Linda Lorelle Scholarship Fund, The Monarch School, NextOp Veterans, Periwinkle Foundation and Small Steps Nurturing Center. The work that these organizations do to enrich the lives of those in the greater Houston area demonstrates their ongoing dedication to the community.
“The generous support from Fluor through the Golf for Greater Houston event will allow Candlelighters to continue to offer educational, emotional and practical support to children with cancer and their families,” said Gay Foust, executive director for Candelighters. “Thank you for your belief in our mission and your support of our programs; it is truly making a difference in the lives of families.”
Since its founding, Golf for Greater Houston volunteers have dedicated countless hours in the planning and execution of this event. With the support of its valued sponsors, Fluor Cares® has donated more than $2,500,000 in connection with Golf for Greater Houston.
Fluor Cares is Fluor’s formal employee volunteer program and is at the heart of the company’s community involvement efforts. The program engages and empowers employees to make a difference in their communities, magnifying and extending Fluor’s philanthropic impact.
