Fluor Daniel Pty. Ltd., the Australian subsidiary of Fluor Daniel, Inc.,
announced today it has acquired Signet Engineering Group, a privately
owned Australian-based engineering company with considerable expertise
in the processing of gold, diamonds and other minerals. Terms and
conditions of the transaction were not disclosed.
While Signet is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Daniel, it will
continue to operate under its own name at its headquarters in Perth.
“This acquisition brings together the resources of two highly respected
companies, and positions us to provide a wider range of mining and
metals engineering services throughout Australia,” said Dick Wright,
managing director of Fluor Daniel Australia. “In addition, the
acquisition is further evidence of Fluor Daniel’s commitment to the
mining sector.”
Kevin Dardis, chief executive of Signet, said, “The merger will give us
access to Fluor Daniel’s global engineering and construction expertise,
project management capabilities and worldwide client base.”
Vic Medina, president of Fluor Daniel’s Mining & Metals operating
company, said, “The relationship with Signet confirms our position as
the leading engineering and construction company for the processing of
gold and diamonds. Signet also will complement our other mining and
metals offices in Vancouver, Canada; Denver, Colorado, and Santiago,
Chile.”
Signet has previously worked on gold, diamond and base metals projects
with Fluor Daniel in Australia, Canada and South America. It is
anticipated that Signet’s office will expand to 250 employees by
year-end.
As one of Australia’s longest established engineering contractors, Fluor
Daniel employs 1,500 people in Australia, and provides complete project
services, including conceptual engineering, procurement and
construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance.
Recent projects include: a revamp of MIM’s Mt. Isa copper smelter, the
Deep Copper Mine project feasibility study at Mt. Isa, Marandoo iron ore
project in West Australia and the Lihir gold mine project in Papua New
Guinea.
