Thursday, July 25, 1996 08:08 AM

Fluor Daniel B.V. and its joint venture partner, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), announced today they have been awarded a contract by Slovnaft A.S. of Bratislava, Slovakia, for the lump-sum, turn-key supply of a residue hydrocracking plant using technology of ABB-Lummus Global.

Fluor Daniel and MHI will provide engineering, procurement and construction services for the plant, which will convert low-value, high-sulfur heavy fuel oil to low-sulfur fuels and heating oil. The process will use three reactors, each weighing approximately 1,200 tons. The reactors will be delivered via the Danube River, then transported to the site via heavy transport vehicles. Engineering will be executed in Fluor Daniel B.V.’s Haarlem, Netherlands, office, and the plant is scheduled for completion in December 1998. Employment is expected to peak on site with 1,200 workers.

Slovnaft is Slovakia’s sole producer of liquid fuels and petrochemicals, and is the leading producer in the Central European region.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, is a major engineering and construction company for large-scale plants, and supplies a wide spectrum of machinery and equipment throughout the world.

Fluor Daniel, Inc., the principal subsidiary of Fluor Corporation, is a global engineering, construction and diversified services company with more than 50 offices worldwide.
