Fluor Daniel Named U.S. Top Contractor

Monday, June 30, 1997 08:08 AM

Fluor Daniel Inc. has been ranked the number-one engineering and construction company in the United States, based on total revenue, by Engineering News-Record magazine (ENR) in its May 26 issue. In a field of 400 general contractors, the company came in first for the fourth straight year and has held this ranking for nine of the past 10 years.

Fluor Daniel also was ranked number one based on new contracts and on overseas revenues. The company cited that economic expansion and capital spending remain on an upward trend and that the global marketplace offers many opportunities, particularly for its upstream and downstream energy, petrochemicals, chemicals and diversified services units. Fluor Daniel's global presence and multi-industry penetration will enable it to capitalize on the impact of liberalized international trade and investment policies, and also on the ever-increasing desire on the part of millions of people for a higher standard of living.

ENR is the leading trade publication for the engineering and construction industry in the United States. Part of the McGraw-Hill Construction Information Group, ENR has a weekly circulation of 418,000.

Fluor Daniel reported record revenues of $11.6 billion in 1996. Fluor Daniel, the principal subsidiary of Fluor Corporation, is a global engineering construction and diversified services company with more than 60 offices worldwide.
