Monday, February 21, 2022 07:00 AM

Fluor Corporation’s Advanced Technologies & Life Sciences business is currently working for the Baylor College of Medicine to design a portable Smart Pod mental health facility that can be quickly transported anywhere in the world for an immediate medical response to global disasters.

Fluor will collaborate with a team of experts at Baylor College of Medicine to provide architectural and engineering design drawings for the module’s fabrication.

“The Smart Pod will be deployable and expandable,” said Juan Hernández, president of Fluor’s Advanced Technologies & Life Sciences business. “It will be utilized to support both individual and group therapy for patients in locations where access to mental healthcare is challenging.”

This unit will be deployed and expanded in Houston’s Harris County Precinct 2 to be a part of Commissioner Adrian Garcia’s healthcare access initiative.

Baylor College of Medicine is a private, independent health sciences center in Houston, , within the Texas Medical Center, the world's largest medical center.
